 Riley, November 2019

“Ruth helped us transform the birth of our daughter from something we were fearing into a positive and empowering experience. As our daughter’s birth approached we found ourselves feeling increasingly apprehensive, and so we started looking for a doula to support us. As soon as we met Ruth we knew that our search was over, she has a calming and warm presence and she made us feel supported, heard and seen.

Our antenatal sessions were lovely, they were personalised and helped us create our birth plans. Ruth also provided my wife with rewind trauma therapy, this helped her look forward to our daughter’s birth.

I went into labour five weeks early, Ruth supported and cared for us throughout our hospital stay. Whilst we did not have the birth we envisioned we felt in control throughout, and Ruth provided fabulous encouragement and help through active labour. We have come out of this birth feeling healed and empowered and this was in no small part due to the role that Ruth played.”

“I found Ruth on Instagram very early on in my pregnancy, about 9weeks, and knew right away she was the one I connected with- she has a quiet, gentle energy which I thought would perfectly balance against me being the opposite. Ruth messaged me just keeping in touch and seeing how I was getting on until we met to confirm when I was further along. I thought this was really lovely. We eventually met, and I met her shared care partner Laura and planned my home water birth. Unfortunately my baby decided she wanted to come early, so I didn’t get to have my home birth. Ruth and Laura kept in touch during the days I was having to go back and forth to the hospital (I refused induction after my waters breaking) and kept me supported via message, checking in and offering information so I could make informed decisions. I didn’t end up needing a doula in the way I thought I would, but Ruth supported me and my husband as best she could, and it was worth having the background support.”

“I do not hesitate to recommend Ruth, she helped us transform the birth of our daughter from something we were fearing into a positive and empowering experience. Our twins were born five years ago and their birth was incredibly difficult. As our daughter’s birth approached we found ourselves feeling increasingly apprehensive, and so we started looking for a doula to support us. As soon as we met Ruth we knew that our search was over, she has a calming and warm presence and she made us feel supported, heard and seen.

Our antenatal sessions were lovely, they were personalised and gave us lots to think about, they allowed us to craft birth plans which really represented our wishes. Ruth also provided my wife with rewind trauma therapy, this helped her re-frame our previous birth experience and look forward to our daughter’s birth.

I went into labour five weeks early, Ruth joined us at the hospital as soon as we called her. She supported and cared for us throughout our hospital stay. Alongside ensuring that our physical and emotional needs were catered for she provided us with a sounding board, so we could ensure that the decisions we were making were the right ones for the whole family.

Whilst we did not have the birth we envisioned we felt in control throughout. Ruth provided fabulous encouragement and help throughout active labour. I think the reason I was able to tolerate being induced without pain relief was down to her hip squeezes! We have come out of this birth feeling healed and empowered and this was in no small part due to the role that Ruth played.”

“Ruth was an exceptional doula, clearly born to do the job! She’s a genuinely kind, caring and nurturing person as well as being extremely well informed and knowledgeable with all things birth and baby related! I enjoyed every meeting we had, from the brilliant antenatal session thinking about our birth plan, to all the post-natal help she gave when I was unexpectedly unwell following the birth - she turned up at the drop of a hat and always knew exactly how to make life easier for all of us during what were some pretty tough times. Even responding to my panicking texts at 3am was really above and beyond, but not for her. She really does care. I was in two minds about how valuable a doula would really be at first. Now I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone becoming a mum - it’s not just a luxury but a necessity in making a smooth transition into happy motherhood! And Ruth has to be one of the best Doulas out there.”

Maria, August 2019

“Ruth was the best support I could have asked for during pregnancy, labour and birth - and I know my husband feels the same, having spent a very long few hours with her in the maternity hospital. She brings a really positive energy and has that all-important intuition to know when to be involved and when to step back. Can’t recommend her enough!”

 Jalmeen, July 2019

“Thank you again for everything Ruth.

You were a pillar of strength for me when I needed someone there to help fulfill our wish and journey of a beautiful, natural, relaxed, homebirth without any pain relief or interventions. You encouraged me and allowed me to continue to trust myself and kept me going when I started to have the tiniest doubt. I’ll never forget that. This birth was shorter than my first birth (which was also a drug-free, hypnobirth and waterbirth) however as the contractions were a lot more intense than I anticipated and with no down time in between, I felt you were like an angel and kept me going. You were like my cheer leader as your eyes always showed me support and gave the “you can do it” look which is what really helped me and gave me total confidence when I doubted myself and my strength. Your aura and presence was calm and we felt so safe having you in our home with us. My husband also felt so grateful as you were so helpful with the birth pool and other things which you facilitated so effortlessly. You supported both of us and helped navigate our wishes so we could just focus on the birth. It was so stress free knowing you could liaise with the midwives and asked them to respect our wish to not intervene in anyway (they were both amazing too!). However; this step of being our front of house helped with preventing and stopping of the labour so I could switch my rational mind off and maintain the mind-body control and focus on maternal foetal ejection reflex and the amazing and powerful transitional stage 🙏🏼. I’m so happy I was able to deliver my baby into my own arms myself (again) but this time it was even more magical as she was born into my hands in our own home. You kept me going without knowing it Ruth. Most importantly; having a toddler and wanting to share the birth of his sister with him, a home birth was a dream as we could all snuggle up straight after and Ruth even helped with looking after him and helping him with his breakfast which was a great help. Highly recommend xxx.”

“You will not regret having Ruth present before and during your baby’s birth. The birth of our first baby boy was the most magical, positive, empowering and deeply bonding experience we could have ever hoped for as a family - this was in no small part due to the presence and influence of Ruth throughout. What a way to welcome our baby.

We found Ruth through her shared care set up with Laura, who was originally recommended to us by friends and mutual contacts. These ladies are strong, sensitive individuals who have completely got your back ... that feeling is irreplaceable when preparing for and going into the most intense experience of your life. Especially as a first time mum.

Laura and Ruth shared the pre natal visits - they both took a lot of care to get to know my partner and I, understand our wishes and apprehensions and talk us through what would actually happen during labour and birth. Both Ruth and Laura are immensely knowledgable, as parents themselves, and through their experience as doulas. Ruth also has a great range of useful books to borrow!

During labour, Ruth arrived promptly and immediately got set up to help me work through contractions, give my partner a break and guide us through to active labour. Ruth balanced the difficult task of staying by my side throughout labour with not imposing or “replacing” my partner. Ruth was simply amazing - she breathed through every contraction with me over several hours, encouraged me when I was exhausted, supported me when faced with choices from midwives, held our space so my partner and I had the freedom to be, think and move as we wanted to in labour. As a bonus, Ruth also took some stunning photos of us as a family which we will treasure forever.

Ruth is also able to advise on breastfeeding, and despite being at hospital with us until 2.30am, was at hand the next day to offer breastfeeding advice by phone.

Ruth is a natural doula and has a deeply caring nature. I can not recommend her highly enough for the preparation for and birth of your baby.”

Stevie, February 2019

“Ruth is the most incredibly supportive, thoughtful and professional doula I have encountered. The information and support she gave us during my pregnancy and into my labour (and after!) enabled us to have the calm, empowered birth we wanted despite going into labour early and not being able to have the home birth we originally planned. We felt able to advocate for ourselves and ask for what we wanted, giving me an incredible water birth on a labour ward, something I didn’t think would happen.

I can’t recommend Ruth enough! She even came round afterwards with thoughtful gifts and breastfeeding help. What a wonderwoman.”

Bethan, January 2019

“Ruth is fantastic. She provided us with incredible antenatal support that empowered my husband to feel confident in his role as birthing partner. She also enabled us to have discussions about our fears and other thoughts on the birth. After our baby was born, Ruth was so helpful in supporting us to establish breast feeding. Our baby struggled to start with and I didn’t produce enough milk so her support when we needed to top up with formula was invaluable. If you are thinking about working with a Doula for birth, I would strongly recommend Ruth. She’s really good at what she does, has a sense of humour and is an all round lovely person.”

Elena, November 2018

“If you want a great birth experience, you should get in touch with Ruth. She will give you support you need and make sure your voice is heard. My birth experience was amazing, I gave birth without any pain relief, just asked for the gas and air in the end. If I had any concerns or questions, I knew I could always ask Ruth. She will be always there for you when you need her.”

Chris, August 2019

“There’s only so much a husband, a couple, a supportive grandmother or best friend can do. She was a constant through this joyous but stressful time. She had been with us since before we’d made our birth plan or started NCT and she was still there when the proverbial hit the fan after the birth. She brought us so much calm and strength. I will always be grateful for all she’s done for us.”

  Jay, August 2019

“Ruth was absolutely fantastic supporting my wife throughout the entire home birth experience. For me personally (as the husband), it was very reassuring to have Ruth there by our side to ensure everything went smoothly and nothing was missed. She was always on-hand and available for anything we required to support us through the journey. I would highly recommend Ruth without hesitation for anyone that may require a doula!”

Gaz, February 2019

“I had no idea what a doula was before meeting Ruth. She provided me, an individual with no real knowledge of child birth other than biology books a totally new perspective. I was able to solidly support my partner in securing the right birth despite deviation from the intended plan. She was very cool. Even, when I called to ask if we should be going to hospital whilst my partner was having contractions whilst our plumbers were fitting our new boiler.”

Bora, March 2019

“I cannot recommend Ruth more. I particularly enjoyed the calming atmosphere she created in the house throughout the labor. Her calming and easy to get on personality combined with smiley face is a great match for the doula role. She also gives confidence with her knowledge and recommendations I felt completely safe and comfortable to have a rest when she was around and this made it easier to take important decisions during labor.”
