postnataL doula support
“After forty or so weeks of anticipation, you have delivered your baby in the single biggest act of giving you will ever perform...But to fully inhabit your new role as mother - with its astonishing requirements for giving energy, attention and love - it is you who must be held.”
Postnatal care packages
Daytime & Evening - £30 per hour
Imagine having someone that intuitively knows how to help you, sometimes in ways that you didn’t quite know you were looking for.
So that when I leave, you feel lighter, calmer, more confident in your own abilities.
And, no one has ever said they had too much support have they…?
Some of the things that I do as a postnatal doula:
Giving you some hands-free time to do anything you like, while your baby is held and happy
Supporting you to take a nap while you know your baby is safe and cared for
Running you a beautiful bath for you to soak in
Support with feeding your baby, in whatever way you are choosing to feed
Helping you to feel confident with nappy changing, bathing and all the other new jobs
Doing some light housework (washing, cleaning, ironing, washing up etc.)
Supporting you on trips out of the house, especially useful after surgery
Listening to your birth story with you (and your partner)
Support at doctors appointments or anywhere else you need to be and would like help
““A dad’s perspective:
Ruth has made the transition to life with a second child so much easier. I’ve always struggled with accepting help and delegating, but Ruth made it feel natural and comfortable. She’s one of the very few people in my parenting journey who’s ever asked me what I needed and how she could support me. That gave me a rare chance to take a bit of time for myself, which honestly made a huge difference.
She’s not loud or overbearing, Ruth has a quiet confidence and really knows what she’s doing. Her systems for organising toys, clothes, even the fridge, have been total game changers. Things actually stay easier even after she’s gone.
She’s supported my wife in ways I couldn’t, and I’ll always be grateful for that. We’ll really miss having her around, but thanks to Ruth, we’re in a good place. Thank you.” ”
Nights - £30 per hour
Maybe the nights are starting to feel longer and heavier, or exhaustion is beginning to blur the edges of your days. Perhaps one of you needs to be away for a night, or you're simply reaching a point where another calm, capable pair of hands could make all the difference.
Whatever the reason, it is more than okay to ask for help. In fact, it can be transformative. My night support is grounded in reliability, compassion, and zero judgment.
Families often tell me they feel lighter, more rested, and emotionally reset after a night of support, like they can finally exhale. Sometimes it's about getting a few precious hours of uninterrupted sleep, and sometimes it's about being gently accompanied through the long, quiet hours when everything feels more intense. You don’t have to hold it all alone.
I’m here to share the load and bring a sense of calm and steadiness back into your nights.
“Responding to my panicking texts at 3am was really above and beyond, but not for her. She really does care. I was in two minds about how valuable a doula would really be at first. Now I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone becoming a mum - it’s not just a luxury but a necessity in making a smooth transition into happy motherhood! And Ruth has to be one of the best Doulas out there.”
Breastfeeding - £25 per hour
Breastfeeding is a personal choice - one that can be incredibly rewarding, but also deeply challenging without the right support. I offer calm, non-judgmental guidance through those early, tender days and beyond. As a qualified ABM Breastfeeding Mother Supporter (since 2019) and a Breastfeeding Counsellor in training, I bring both up-to-date knowledge and a deeply compassionate approach to helping you meet your feeding goals, whatever they may be.
I’m here to listen, to reassure, and to walk alongside you, for as long as you need. Even after our formal time together ends, you can reach me by phone for ongoing support. And if your situation calls for more specialist input, I have a trusted network of professionals I can refer you to.
You don’t have to navigate this alone - together, we’ll work through whatever’s coming up with care and clarity.
““After struggling with postpartum depression after our first baby we wanted to be as best equipped and supported as possible for our second, especially after a difficult HG pregnancy. We weren’t too sure what a postpartum doula involved but I can now say the role is pretty much the equivalent of a real life angel.
Ruth instantly made me feel safe, supported and validated in my most vulnerable times. She helped with everything from feeding, checking my scars, debriefing my birth, making our toddler feel special, the jobs around the house that are impossible to do, but most of all allowing my husband and I to rest and bond with the baby without guilt. She thought of EVERYTHING.
I honestly believe Ruth has played the biggest part in my positive postpartum experience and I cannot recommend her enough to anyone. We will never ever forget the care she showed us and we just wish we knew about her for our first.””
