You can arrange a funeral for around £1000 in the UK, yet the average spent on it is £4000. I don't believe funerals are unimportant, but why are people comfortable (mentally) spending £3000 more than they have to on the end of life, but baulk at the thought of spending £500-£1500 on the start of a life?
